Have you ever lost your passport or ID document? It’s a major schlep, we know. But the thing is, when you’re abroad and you lose these important documents, it’ll be much more than just an inconvenience, and you could face some serious turmoil on foreign soil.

One of the most important things that we always like to advise on is that you MAKE and TAKE along a number of copies of all your important documents. This goes for identity documents, passports (including the Visas) and off course your driver’s licence if you plan to self-drive. Make sure that you have copies of each packed into every single piece of luggage you take along with you on your travels.

Ensuring that you have copies inside of your bags eliminates the delayed process of returning lost luggage, plus it’s also a great way to ensure that you’ll have a go-to plan in case your passport of ID get lost and you need to have a temporary one issued by the consulate.

Some countries are very strict with visitors, and as such require travellers to always carry a copy of their ID and passport on them when they’re out and about. It’s important to keep this in mind.
