RHODES



Rhodes is the most popular island destination for tourists in Greece. The sun, the weather, the water, the beaches are few reasons, but Rhodes is also famous for housing one of the seven wonders of the ancient world: The Colossus of Rhodes. Crazy partying, relaxing in deserted beaches, dancing in beach bars, luxurious hotels, camping sites etc. Rhodes has them all. It can be the holiday destination for any traveller, any mood and budget. Just take your best holiday mood and visit this magnificent island.

Things to do and see in Rhodes

The city of Rhodes

Rhodes city has a great charm on its own, the medieval part of the city offers great afternoon walks, it is big enough to get lost and believe you are living in another period. In this part there are also some cafes and bars where you can have a drink and relax. The Rhodes town also many shops for local products and souvenirs, as well as many nice bars and clubs to go for a drink. While being in the town you should not forget to visit the Kahal Kadosh Shalom Synagoge.

Faliraki

Faliraki is the ultimate party place of the island. A crazy party place for tourists with many events and happenings going on. There the party lasts until the morning, so if you are fans of alcohol or travelling in a group of young people, you might enjoy this place. Not recommended though if you are a couple on quiet holidays. You might still find interesting though the water park of Faliraki which is one of the biggest in Europe.

Lindos

Lindos village and beach, is the archaeological interesting part of the island. Definitely a must see if you are visiting Rhodes. The view from the acropolis is spectacular and a wide variety of activities is offered in the area (taverns, bars, beach sports etc.). This small paradise will remind you of the Cyclades islands even though it is located few kilometres further.

Valley of butterflies

Walking through the valley of the butterflies is a must do activity on Rhodes island. Just 25 kilometres far from Rhodes town, this natural wonder is a unique place of natural beauty offering great relaxing walking tours. Moreover, there you might see very rare species of butterflies, especially if you are visiting between June and September. At the entrance to the valley you will also find the natural history museum. Even if you are visiting in a period with no butterflies, the place is still great walk through.

Explore local beaches

Of course different activities are attractive, but let’s be honest the first thing that attracts tourists in Greek islands are the beaches and Rhodes has a great variety of them. Few of the best are: Lindos, Elli, St. Pauls, Plakia and Tsampika. Of course as the island is quite big there are many more nice beaches to visit.

Getting there and around

Rhodes has an international airport with many flights arriving from various International and national destinations. There are also ferries arriving daily from the port of Piraeus in Athens and from different islands. It is highly recommended to rent a scouter, a quad, a motorbike or a car for getting around the island. There are local buses but are not recommended.
